Chandigarh Police has invited applications from eligible candidates for direct recruitment to 144 Temporary posts of Constable (Executive)(IT), under domain specialization “IT Support”, of Group “C” in the pay scale of Central Pay Level-3 as per 7th CPC plus allowances as applicable from time to time.
Criteria for Selection, Examination and Syllabus:-
All candidates [including ex-servicemen], shall be put through an OMR Sheet-based test which shall consist of Tier-I and Tier-II. Tier-I (2 hour duration) and Tier-II (1 hour duration) Tests shall be held in a single session.
Tier-I Test
shall carry 100 marks. The questions shall be multiple choice objective type and will carry one mark for every correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer and shall include questions on:-
- General Knowledge/ Current Affairs
- Reasoning
- Numerical Ability
The minimum qualifying cut-off marks in Tier-I test for each category shall be as follows:-
General Candidates | 40% |
SC Candidates | 35% |
OBC Candidates | 35% |
Ex-Servicemen Candidates | 30% |
However, the DGP may lower the cutoff marks in case the requisite number of candidates have not qualified.
Only those candidates who score the above mentioned qualifying marks in Tier-I shall be eligible for evaluation of their Tier-II Test.
Tier-II Test
Tier II, carrying 50 marks, shall test the proficiency of candidates in domain specialization i.e. “IT Support” as per the syllabus attached (Annexure ‘Syllabus’). The questions shall be multiple choice objective type and will carry one mark for every correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
The question paper for the written test shall be in Hindi, English and Punjabi. Each candidate will be given the test paper only in the language selected by the candidate during the application process. Change of medium will not be permitted.
Shortlisted candidates after written test will be called for PEMT @10 times of each category of candidates in merit order (based on total of marks in Tier I and Tier II).
