Plan of Written Examination :PSSSB Coupon Clerk Syllabus
The written test contains Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format, and candidates will use OMR sheets to mark their answers. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The exam consists of three parts: Part A, Part B, and Part C.
Part A: Punjabi Language Qualifying Test
- Format: MCQs
- Number of Questions: 50
- Marks per Question: 1
- Duration: Included within the total exam time
- Qualifying Marks: 25 (50% of 50)
- Negative Marking: None
Part B and Part C: Evaluated only if Part A is qualified.
Part B: General Knowledge and Other Subjects
- Format: MCQs
- Number of Questions: 40
- Marks per Question: 1
- Subjects Covered: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Punjab History and Culture, Logical Reasoning, Mental Ability, Punjabi, English, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer
Part C: Subject-Specific Questions
- Format: MCQs
- Number of Questions: 60
- Marks per Question: 1
- Subjects Covered: Specific topics relevant to the post of Coupon Clerk

- Punjab History and Culture (5 Marks)
- Geography, ancient history, social, religious, and economic life in Punjab.
- Language and literature development, arts, Sikh Gurus’ teachings, freedom movements in Punjab.
- Logical Reasoning & Mental Ability (10 Marks)
- Logical reasoning, numerical skills, data analysis, graphic presentation.
- Punjabi Language (5 Marks)
- Correct and incorrect usage, word formation, idioms, translation, and comprehensive use of Punjabi language.
- English Language (5 Marks)
- Basic grammar, sentence correction, synonyms, antonyms, idioms, prepositions, and other grammatical aspects.
- ICT (5 Marks)
- Basics of computers, internet, office productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Part C: Subject-Specific Questions
- Detailed topics in financial accounting, cost accounting, and management accounting. This includes:
- Financial statements and their analysis
- Ratio analysis
- Fund flow and cash flow analysis
- Cost concepts and preparation of cost sheets
- Material and labor accounting
- Overheads classification and management
- Marginal costing, CVP analysis, budgeting, and standard costing etc
