The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Junior Engineer (JE) exam is conducted for recruitment to the post of Junior Engineers in various government departments. The exam consists of two papers:

  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning:

Analogies, similarities, and differences

Space visualization, spatial orientation

Problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making

Visual memory, discrimination, observation

Relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning

Verbal and figure classification

Arithmetic number series, non-verbal series

General Awareness:

2. Current events

India and its neighbouring countries

History, culture, geography, economic scene

General Polity and Scientific Research, etc.

3. General Engineering (Civil & Structural/Electrical/Mechanical):

Civil Engineering: Building Materials, Estimating, Costing and Valuation, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, Hydraulics, etc.

Electrical Engineering: Basic concepts, Circuit law, Magnetic Circuit, AC Fundamentals, Measurement, etc.

Mechanical Engineering: Theory of Machines and Machine Design, Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials, etc.

This paper is a descriptive paper that assesses the candidate’s engineering skills in their respective fields.
